Fifty-eight people from thirty-nine agencies working in Barnstaple came together at a workshop on 10th May 2019 to find out more about the One Barnstaple Flow approach. The event, which took place in Barnstaple library, launched the pilot whose aim is to encourage and support professionals working with people with complex needs to work beyond their ‘remit’ and take a holistic, asset-based approach to supporting clients. Unlike traditional social prescribing models, the Flow approach focusses on the professional working with the client, pulling support in, rather than referring on to a social prescriber.
The Flow project co-ordinator, Paul Jones and Gail Mistlin, the Flow wellbeing co-ordinator, were introduced to the group. Gail’s role will be to help professionals link with the support they need, particularly linking with the voluntary sector and individual One Barnstaple volunteers.
